Recognize Your Incapacity

Another noteworthy detail in the Annunciation is Mary’s  recognition of her virginity when

informed by the angel of God’s plan. Mary said, “How can this be for I am a virgin?”

Some people see this as Mary’s lack of confidence in the power of God. But I think otherwise.

It was precisely because she saw herself as a virgin that she was able to see the

evidence of God’s power.

A virgin has no capacity to produce life on her own. Only through her cooperation

with another force can she bring forth life. Because Mary recognized her incapacity–the

impossibility of doing things on her own– the benevolence of God was highlighted.

God’s love, might ,mercy and holiness truly come to the surface. Hence, virginity

must become part of our attitude as Christian devotees of our Blessed Mother. Such

persons who have it can really manifest the magnanimity of God.

Be Holy

1 Peter  1: 13-21

13 So, then ,let your spirit be ready.Be alert, with confident trust in the grace  you will receive when Jesus Christ appears.14  Like obedient children ,do not return to your former life given over to ignorance and passions.15 Imitate on the one who called you .as he is so you, too, be holy in all your conduct, since Scripture says: Be holy for i am holy.17 You call upon a Father who makes no distinction between persons but judges according to each one’s deeds; take seriously, then , these years which you  spend in a strange land. 18 Remember that you were freed from the useless way of life of your ancestors, not with gold and silver 19 but with the precious blood of the Lamb without spot of blemish. 20 God, who has known Christ before the world began, revealed him to you in the last days.21 Through him, you have faith in God who raised him in order that you might put all your faith and hope in God.

The bread of life;to believe in the Son of GOD

John 6:28-35

28 Then the Jews asked him, ” What shall we do? What are the works that God wants us to do? ” 29 and Jesus answered them, ” The work God wants is this : that you believe in the One whom God has sent.”

30 They then said, ” Show us miraculous signs, that we may see and believe you. what sign do you perform? 31 Our ancestors ate manna in the desert; as Scripture says: They were given bread from heaven to eat.”

32 Jesus then said to them, “Truly, I say to you, it was not Moses who gave you the bread from heaven. My Father  gives you the true bread from heaven. 33 The bread God gives is the One who comes from heaven and gives life to the world. ” 34 And they said to him,  ” Give us this bread always .”

35 Jesus said to them, ” I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me shall never be hungry, and whoever believes in me shall never be thirsty.

The multiplication of the loaves

John 6:1-15

1After this Jesus went to the other side of Sea of Galilee, near Tiberias, 2 and large crowds followed him because of the miraculous signs they saw when he healed the sick.3 So he went up into the hills and sat down there  with his disciples.4 Now the Passover, the feast of the Jews , was at hand.

5 Then lifting up his eyes, Jesus saw the crowds that were coming to him and said to Philip, ” Where shall we buy bread so that these people may eat?” 6 He said this to test Philip, for he himself knew what he was going to do. 7 Philip answered him, ” Two hundred silver coins would not buy enough bread for each of them to have a piece.”

8 Then one of Jesus’ disciples, Andrew , Simon Peter’s brother, said, 9 ” There is a boy here who has five barley loaves and two fish; but what good are these for so  many? ”

10  Jesus said, ” Make the people sit down. ” there was plenty of grass there so the people , about five thousand men , sat down to rest. 11 Jesus then took the loaves, gave thanks and distributed them to those who were seated. He did the same with the fish and gave them as much as they wanted. 12 And when they had eaten enough , he told his disciples, ” Gather up the pieces left over, that nothing may be lost. ”

13 So they gathered them up and filled twelve baskets with bread, that is with pieces of the five barley loaves left by those who had eaten.

14 When the people saw this sign that Jesus had just given, they said, ” This is really the Prophet, he who is to come into the world. ” 15 Jesus had realized that they would come and take him by force to make him king; so he fled to the hills by himself.

I’m going to the Father

John 14:6-14

Jesus said ,  “I am the way the truth and the life; no one comes to the Father but through me. If you know me,you will know the Father also;indeed you know him and you have seen him.” Philip asked him,” Lord, show us the Father and that is enough.” Jesus said to him, What! I have been with you so long and you still do not know me Philip? Whoever sees me sees the Father, how can you say; ‘Show us the Father’?Do you not believe me that I am in the Father and the Father is in me?

All that I say to you, I do not say of myself. The Father who dwells in me is doing his own work. Believe me when I say that I am in the Father and the Father is in me;at least believe it on the evidence of these works that I do.

Truly, I say to you, the one who believes in me will do the same works that I do;and he will even do greater than these, for I am going to the Father.Everything you ask in my name, I will do, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son.And everything  you ask in calling upon my name,I will do.
